Untimely Departure

Mississippi State Fires Head Football Coach Zach Arnett

Untimely Departure

Mississippi State has announced the termination of head football coach Zach Arnett. The decision comes just two days after the Bulldogs' disappointing 51-point loss. Arnett's tenure lasted less than a single season.

Disappointing Performance

Mississippi State has struggled under Arnett's leadership, compiling a 4-6 record (1-6 in SEC play). The team has shown a lack of consistency and competitiveness on the field.

Arnett's dismissal follows a disappointing loss to Arkansas, where the Bulldogs were outmatched and outplayed. The defeat marked the team's sixth in the past seven games.

Mississippi State athletic director John Cohen expressed his disappointment in the decision to fire Arnett:

"We appreciate Coach Arnett's service to Mississippi State. However, after careful consideration, we believe it is in the best interests of our program to make a change."

The search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.
