Former Mississippi State Coordinator Hired by Auburn
Zach Arnett, former Mississippi State defensive coordinator, has been hired by Auburn University, according to sources. The hiring brings an experienced SEC coach to Auburn, which is looking to improve its defense under new head coach Hugh Freeze.
Arnett spent the past three seasons as Mississippi State's defensive coordinator, where he oversaw one of the most successful defenses in the SEC. In 2022, the Bulldogs ranked in the top 25 in the nation in several defensive categories, including total defense, scoring defense, and sacks.
Before Mississippi State, Arnett worked as a graduate assistant at San Diego State from 2011 to 2013. He also has coaching experience at California, New Mexico, and Arkansas State.
Arnett's only direct connection to Auburn is through athletic director John Cohen, who was his athletic director at Mississippi State from 2012 to 2016.
