Corbin Burnes Traded to Baltimore Orioles
Milwaukee Brewers Send All-Star Pitcher to AL East
Burnes Joins Orioles Rotation, Bolsters Playoff Hopes
In a blockbuster trade, the Milwaukee Brewers have sent All-Star pitcher Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles for a package of prospects.
Burnes, a 29-year-old right-hander, has been one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball over the past few seasons. He won the NL Cy Young Award in 2021 and has finished in the top five in voting in each of the past three years.
The Orioles are expected to slot Burnes into their starting rotation, where he will join a young and talented staff that includes Dean Kremer, Grayson Rodriguez, and DL Hall.
The Brewers, meanwhile, receive a package of prospects that includes top catching prospect Adley Rutschman. Rutschman, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, is considered one of the best prospects in the game.
The trade is a major coup for the Orioles, who have been rebuilding for several years. With Burnes in the fold, they now have a legitimate contender for the AL East title.
